Willie and Sharon, both accepted Christ as personal Saviour at an early age. Later they committed their lives to serving Him. In 1977 they joined Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) and served in Brazil for most of the next 18 years where Willie held various positions including pilot/mechanic, operations manager, and later field director before returning to Manitoba in 1995. Sharon spent many hours on the radio, using her nursing skills and giving leadership to the medical, dental, and evangelistic outreach program of Asas de Socorro. They had the privilege of handing the leadership over to Christian nationals who continue to direct the ministry of Asas de Socorro, a member of the MAF international family. Their two children are both married and currently living in Winkler.

Since returning to Winkler, Willie has been involved in a manufacturing firm in various capacities including, human resources, purchasing, and managing production. They have maintained an involvement in missions through their local church, mentoring young adults preparing for mission work, and serving on the MAF Canada board of directors at different times during these years in Canada. Sharon continues her ministry as receptionist and administrative duties at WBMC.

A growing feeling of restlessness coupled with an opportunity within MAFC during 2007, was used by God to redirect Willie’s life. Starting in January of 2008 he began serving with MAFC in the capacity of Recruiting and Ministry Partnership mentoring new missionary candidates based in western Canada.
